Rivian Bütikofer earned her BA degree in painting and printmaking from San Diego State University and her MA in teaching from Point Loma Nazarene College . As an artist and longtime educator, Rivian combines her wealth of educational experience and extensive background in art, drama, and art therapy with an enthusiastic and encouraging teaching style. She has been an artist-in-residence and the visual arts resource instructor, K-12, for the San Diego Unified School District and has taught at the secondary level in several area schools. Her other teaching venues have included the Stephen Birch Aquarium, the San Diego Museum of Art, the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art, and UCSD.  She also served as a consultant to L'Atelier des Enfants, Centre George Pompidou, Paris , France , and had a private art school, The Magic of Art, for several  years.  Rivian goes to Europe at least once a year, where she has been touched by the people from many countries, but she always returns to her beloved Paris.
