The Talented Ruth Hohberg
About the Artist
| While living in New York I participated in many national, regional, and local juried exhibitions, winning ribbons and cash prizes. In Southern California I enjoy the climate, and the freedom to do more of the things I’ve always liked to do |
I make pictures in watercolors, acrylics, oil pastels, photo-mosaics, photographs, as well as pen sketches. The basics in nature and the ingenuity of man within the scope of my living environment are the sources of my “inspiration.” Water, rocks, sky, and plants, the myriad juxtapositions of architectural details, and light or shade in the course of the day and the seasons provide more than I can ever record, or serve up for others to take note and enjoy.
Light, shadow, reflections, and refractions as they appear spontaneously are my special fascination in photography. I work intuitively: straightforward, with no special lighting or set-up. |
In painting and photography my works communicate by visually pointing out the unique, and the poetic in the mundane objects present in our immediate environment. |
| In recent years I have developed a passion for writing, and have published a short memoir called GETTING HERE, Ruth’s Story 1935-1949. It is available at amazon.com, Barnes and Noble.com, PublishAmerica.com. and BooksaMillion.com. |
