TITLE: Monoprinting
DESCRIPTION:
This workshop will be based on the demonstration. Each student will work on individual plastic plates using brushes, stencils, or paper cut-out shapes. Using black ink first, then colors, their work will be printed on paper with the use of an etching press that Sfona will bring to class.

A mono print is a unique, one-of-a-kind work of art created on a plate, then transferred to paper or another material. Drawing on a plate allows the artist to make different and special effects that cannot be achieved with other media. Sfona will demonstrate the process using inks, a variety of papers
and an etching press. Brushes, Q-tips, cut-out shapes, string and lace are some of the tools she will use.

SFONA PELAH BIO:
Sfona Pelah is a Printmaker, Jewelry maker in Precious Metal
Clay, and a well-known artist and art instructor in the San Diego
area for over three decades. She holds an MFA in Printmaking
and Photography.
Her travels and observations about light and shadow, figures,
reflections, landscape, and cityscapes provide endless inspiration
for her work.
Sfona has exhibited nationally and internationally, receiving
numerous awards for her artwork. Her unique and inimitable art is
held by several private and public collections.

SUPPLY LIST
***One acrylic 5x7 plate will be included in the workshop fee*** (only one is needed)
-Strathmore or other very smooth paper, as in sketchbook drawing paper, about 80lb; 24 sheets of 11x14, 400 Series
-miscellaneous brushes from home, bring what you have
-Caran d’ache Classic Neocolor 2 Watersoluble Pastels, 10 colors (available on Amazon)
