Workshop Description:

HARNESSING THE POWER OF LIGHT (ZOOM WORKSHOP) Light for the Impressionist Painter.
Painting students often focus on difficult subject matter- trees, buildings and surfaces and forget that light is as real as any object. For impressionists, LIGHT is the subject matter. Join award- winning artist, Dianna Shyne in this fast paced, exciting two and a half hour workshop. Participants will learn how to identify the color, direction, and intensity of the light in their subject, as well as how to interpret that light in paint. Dianna Shyne offers easy to practice tools that allow the mysteries of painting light to be unlocked. The workshop will include lecture, instructor demo, hand-outs, and Question and Answer time.
Participants will be emailed reference photos, class worksheets and/or informative handouts.

Dianna Shyne, now a Portland Oregon based artist, spent most of her life in the Puget Sound area of Washington State.

Pursuing her passion for art, Dianna Shyne has spent over forty years working in acrylic, oil and watercolor. For15 of those years she studied with renowned Russian Impressionist teachers Ron Lukas, William Reese, Deanne Lemley  and Del Gish.


Dianna has exhibited her work in over 45 solo and two person exhibitions, and won more than twenty top National Awards, Including Outstanding Acrylic in Boldbrush Nov. 2021 Competition, and first place in The Artist’s Magazine 2013 all media competition.    Her work is included in publications such as The Artist Magazine, Watercolor Magic and Northlight Books. Her painting “Americana” was featured in the 2013 edition of “Acrylic Works the Best of Acrylic painting” published by Northlight Books. She is a signature member and past president of the Northwest Watercolor Society. Her art has been sought out by private and corporate collectors and has been shown in gallerys in the US and Canada. Dianna Shyne has taught classes  and workshops around the country and in Canada, Italy and China. To Dianna, teaching is a joy as well as an art, conveying not only theoretical art concepts but also delving into the deeper issues of creativity and the ongoing artistic journey. Dianna’s classes are both informative and inspirational. Dianna is currently teaching online courses through Acrylic University (an online Art School), Winslow Art Center, The Cole Gallery, and Waterside Art Group based in Ontario Canada.
